Pelican employs a team of consultants specialising in a range of markets and competencies and working in some of the world’s top financial institutions. A selection of the senior team members are listed below:

Ian Gilmour

Managing Director

Ian is a senior consultant bridging the gap between business need and IT fulfillment. Ian is responsible all development and implementation work conducted by Pelican.

Ian has worked in international markets since 1990 and has worked in some of the most sophisticated financial organisations in the world, including HSBC and Deutsche Bank. He left his career as a banker in 2000 to develop Pelican‚s consulting business. He comes to the consulting business as a practitioner with a definite focus on fulfilling business goals for clients.

Ian has developed core competencies in credit risk, market risk and liquidity risk. He also has worked on detailed assignments in the FX, commodities and credit derivatives markets.

Ian is also responsible for the day to day management of Pelican and a key role is to work on customer service and ensure that each assignment undertaken by the firm has excellent client approval ratings.

Dr Robert Fiedler

Managing Director

Robert jointly owns and runs Pelican Consulting with Ian Gilmour. He has merged his successful consulting operation into Pelican and is responsible for all advisory work conducted by Pelican, effective from June 2009. Dr. Fiedler holds a PhD in Pure Mathematics from the Technische Hochschule, Darmstadt, where he worked for several years in mathematical research.

Robert has spent over a decade in the treasury/dealing rooms of numerous international major banks as a money market liquidity manager, trading interest rate products and derivatives.

Robert changed careers and moved into Risk Management. He was Head of Methodology and Policy, Liquidity & Treasury Risk at Deutsche Bank where he devised the methodology and successfully managed a project which still measures and limits the funding liquidity of Deutsche Bank Group. He has also held senior positions at Algorithmics and Fernbach.

Hugh Stewart

non-executive Director

Hugh is a general manager with a formidable history of sales, sales management, consultancy (of which the last fifteen years have focused on investment banking and other financial services) and a broad and well-developed range of senior general management skills and experience with a track record of 'delivering successful company transformations'.

Hugh is able to lead, build and motivate mixed and variously skilled teams of developers, project managers, consultants, client services, business analysts, financial engineers, instructors, finance, administration and sales. He has a reputation for delivering difficult or ambitious programmes and projects; understands technology, software design and business process; knows trading, risk management and commercial  lending; and has led and participated in software and services selection processes over the last 30 years.

Employers have included Bankers Trust, Arab Banking Corporation, SunGard, C*ATS, Misys, Algorithmics and Siemens.

Niul Dillon Hatcher

Senior Consultant

Niul is an experienced lawyer who qualified as a solicitor in 1989 at Clifford Chance. He has occupied a number of in-house roles in the international financial services industry including heading the legal department at CLS Bank and at CrestCo.

He has substantial experience in dealing with international and domestic financial services authorities and other regulators. He joined Pelican in 2009.

David Hudson

Business Consultant

David is a senior consultant who has spent approximately 20 years specifying, building and delivering solutions to the international financial community.

For most of that time, the primary focus has been on all aspects of the syndicated and commercial lending businesses of international banks and financial institutions and dealing with the complexities of delivering ‘global’ solutions.

David’s skills in these areas include business analysis, system identification and selection and project management.

Tim Coop

Senior Programme Manager 

Tim is an experienced program/project manager and business analyst with over 20 years experience in systems design, construction and implementation within Financial Institutions.
 
He has implemented risk systems for a number of major banking institutions, including NatWest and CSFB, as well working for a risk systems vendor with several Tier One Banks. In addition he has expertise in electronic trading and clearing after working at ICE and LCH.Clearnet.
 
He is familiar with most project methodologies, from waterfall to agile, and often manages large IT teams spread across multiple sites and time zones.
