Who we are - what do you want from a consultancy?

Pelican Consulting believes that discussion is key to creating the right solution. We like to learn how our clients’ businesses operate, what issues they face and what they think is the best strategy to overcome complex risks. Even though we have worked for some of the most complex firms in the market, each client is different. We assume nothing, we listen and we work with our clients to create a successful business partnership.

Much of what consultancies do is not necessarily what clients need. We are honest with our clients and they appreciate this straightforward approach – they know that we will find the best solution for them to ‘get stuff done’.

We aim to keep our teams to a minimum and stay focused. To us, it’s the size of the problem that matters, not how many people we can sell you.
The optimal teams are mobile and effective, they get a lot of stuff done.

Client engagement

Working with a new consultancy is similar to any other business
relationship. Trust has to be developed. Pelican Consulting offers short-term
assignments to lead into a working relationship.

The following examples illustrate two engagements from different ends
of the spectrum:

  • Project leadership for a substantial global project

    Initial design and prototyping work with several international offices led to the global roll-out (with very tight deadlines) of a corporate lending portfolio management system for multiple entities of a major UK bank. The team grew with the project to augment in-house capabilities and create a seamless team.

  • healthcheck

    This service can be used by departments undertaking a strategic review. We offer a rapid assimilation of facts concerning either: an aspect of a Liquidity Risk or Credit Risk process or a high level holistic analysis of an entire Liquidity Risk or Credit Risk capability.
