Pelican Racing - the 2008 Laser SB3 Campaign

boat Pelican racing is the official Pelican Consulting Ltd sailing team helmed by experienced dinghy sailor and Yacht Master trainer, Ash Holmes. The 2008 campaign has been put together to compete in the most exciting keel boat racing series in the world, The Laser SB3.

Director of Pelican Consulting Ltd and crew member of the Pelican racing team, Ian Gilmour, explains why the Laser SB3 circuit was chosen as the competition for the Pelican crew: "The SB3 fits well with the Pelican philosophy of ‘get stuff done'. It's a well-designed, no-nonsense, grin-inducing sports keel boat that we can launch quickly without cranes and big boy marina equipment.

"We threw this campaign together in doublequick time and got a bit lucky in finding a talented crew: Ash Holmes (helm), Simon Davies, Phil Devereux and myself. We've been training like mad to be competitive in the 2008 season. As a local on the Isle of Wight, putting a sailing team together is a dream come true for me. It not only helps us to demonstrate our values to clients in a tangible way but also illustrates Pelican's skills in project management, team working and delivery into a new realm."

The Laser SB3 class is hugely popular at regattas across Europe. The strict one-design class provides spectacular racing enjoyed by competitors and spectators alike.
